After looking around various kitchen design webpages  and talking to people, the website for Steven – James Interior Design caught our attention because of the bespoke design aspects and the quality of the workmanship.  At our initial meeting with James, we were able to explain what it was we were seeking and he was able to advise and make suggestions.  This collaborative approach was also taken when we met Steve the kitchen designer.

From our first meeting to the completion of the project, continued close communication meant the project ran smoothly and we were aware of what was happening at each stage.  James was an excellent project manager, liaising with various trades, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, kitchen fitters, flooring, to ensure the work was done to the agreed timescale and to a high standard and finish.

The final result is exactly what we wanted with a few additional ideas from the design team.  All of our friends who have visited echo our appreciation of the quality design and workmanship of our new kitchen which we are delighted with.  We would highly recommend the work of Steven – James Interior Design.

I needed a brand new kitchen fitted as part of an extensive refurbishment job in one of my student properties. The prospect of choosing and fitting a whole new suite, not to mention appliances too, could have been a major headache – especially in the middle of other building work and with a quick turnaround needed to have the property ready in time for the new academic year.

Steven James took all of the stress out of the process. They came out to the property and designed a bespoke kitchen made to measure. They then not only fitted the new worktops, cupboards, and appliances, but also took care of the electrics, the lights, sockets, and plumbing. A difficult job made easy! The team was efficient and helpful at every turn. A thoroughly professional company who I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We have recently moved house and decided to knock through a couple of walls to make a larger kitchen diner. Initially we contacted about 5 other companies but for one reason or another they were not interested or didn’t turn up. I felt like I was coming to the end of my tether with it all, then I saw one of the company vans; I made a note of the name and sent James a text. He arrived when he said he would, he helped us plan the space and dealt with the building inspector. What a refreshing change! The work started when he said it would ( almost to the minute ) and the guys who turned up worked in a very professional manner, they did not stop, not even for a break! They really did put in a sterling effort!

“When we first thought about having the house extension built, I expected to be fulfilling the role of project manager, organising the trades and resources etc. But when the quote came in,  which included James performing that task, it seemed a much more sensible idea to leave it to him given the differences in our relative experiences of the building trade (I had none).

James did as he’d promised and turned up almost every day he had workmen here, making sure they were doing what they were expected to and that they had the resources they needed. He also kept us well informed about what to expect next. He’d provided a complete plan and timescale (which was perhaps a bit ambitious) at the start, and as is the case with many builds, things sometimes happened beyond our control that impacted the completion date. But James was always happy, willing and able to work around the delays, revising and rescheduling as required.

Throughout the whole build James and his team have always been friendly, honest and polite, and have often contributed ideas and suggestions for making the build better, more professional and more effective.

Now the build is finished, we’re delighted, as we have a new kitchen, garage and workshop that gets a ‘Wow!’ from everyone who sees them.
